Four arrested in drugs operation

Four people have been arrested in a series of dawn raids targeting organised crime in Lancashire.

Police searched homes in Darwen, Preston and Liverpool as part of a week-long operation aimed at disrupting serious crime in the area.

Tuesday's raids were targeting the suspected supply of class A drugs in Darwen, Lancashire police said.

Two men, a teenager and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of drug offences and are due to be questioned.

The two men from Preston, aged 18 and 23, and the 16-year-old boy from Liverpool were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply heroin and crack cocaine.

Properties searched

The 35-year-old woman from Darwen was arrested on suspicion of possession of crack cocaine.

The operation involved a number of specialist police officers including operational support units, CID, drug detection dogs and neighbourhood policing teams.

Warrants were executed at five addresses, including Newton Street, Darwen; Page Moss Avenue, Liverpool; Lauderdale Road, Ribbleton, Preston and two addresses on Dawson Walk, Preston.

Searches of all properties are continuing.

Five people have already been arrested and charged in connection with the week-long operation, which began on Monday.
